Also, we are blessed to have JROD INDIGO come by and let us know what’s new… This talented Soul vocalist from Chicago brings a smooth mix of soul, funk and house to the table and puts on a great show if you haven’t seen him live yet.

Acid jazz is a musical genre that combines elements of jazz, funk and hip-hop[1], particularly looped beats. It developed in the UK over the 1980s and 1990s and could be seen as tacking the sound of jazz-funk onto electronic dance/pop music: jazz-funk musicians such as Roy Ayers, Donald Byrd and Grant Green are often credited as forerunners of acid jazz.[2] Acid jazz has also experienced minor influences from soul music, house music and disco.
While acid jazz often contains various types of electronic composition (sometimes including sampling or live DJ cutting and scratching), it is just as likely to be played live by musicians, who often showcase jazz interpretation as part of their performance. The compositions of groups such as Jamiroquai, The Brand New Heavies and Incognito often feature chord structures usually associated with jazz music.
Been digging in the Crates & watching Beat Street, Breaking, Wild Style etc a lil too much this week LOL. Here's some old skool joints to remind you of the early Hip Hop Era and some 80's Soul Classics. Enjoy!
Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo met at the ages of 12 at a summer camp in Virginia Beach, for musicians; which they both disliked. They spent their free time making beats and performing in groups with fellow childhood friend Timbaland. Williams and Hugo met Shay Haley in high school and began performing together. The trio often met in Hugo's garage, where he beatboxed through a speaker system while Haley danced. After watching the duo perform at a high school talent show, Teddy Riley, a musician and producer, signed Williams and Hugo in 1992. After producing songs for several artists throughout the late 1990s and early 2000s, the production duo formed N.E.R.D (an acronym for No one Ever Really Dies) in 2001 as a side project.

Carnival is an annual celebration of life found in many countries of the world. And in fact, by learning more about carnival we can learn more about ourselves and a lot about accepting and understanding other cultures.
Femi is a Bay Area native of Puerto-Rican ancestry has established her musical presence with powerfully sweet vocals, passionately poetic song writing and sultry production. Her music has been defined as neo-funk & soul but its roots go much deeper with an infusion of afro-latin/carribean rhythms, jazz, hip-hop, salsa and rock, blending perfectly to create a unique sound all her own.
We're sending out positive vibez to Keith "Guru" Elam and hoping for a healthy recovery from the heart attack he suffered recently. Gang Starr and Guru are truly one of the founding fathers of Hip Hop - transcending the sound to new levels with jazz influences from the masters - both collectively and as individuals. I had the opportunity to spend time with Guru on several occasions while in the Bay Area and he is one cool, down to earth brotha! Here's is just a sampling of his and their amazing body of work.
